For my internship at the studio of Hisko Hulsing, I made this animation. Background was painted by Hisko.
For the book “Mooi is Dat”, mentioned earlier, I made a comic about “De Helaasheid der Dingen” (2006) by Belgian writer Dimitri Verhulst. This book is considered one of the best novels of centuries of Dutch literature. Because “Mooi is Dat” is in stores now, I can finally post the comic on my blog. The page is an interpretation as well as a rough summary of the book.

What I do!
The Dutch newspaper NRC Next published an article about the new book “Mooi is dat”, featuring 57 of the best Dutch books ever written (from the 11th to the 21st century), transformed into 1-page comics. My comic was even published in their example pages, along with artists like Floor de Goede, Joost Swarte and Gerrit de Jager. Here’s a photo of the page!
The book will be available from Saturday at the Kunststripbeurs in Utrecht. November 13th, the exposition with original sketches en prints of each artist will be opened in the OBA (public library) in Amsterdam. Be there! Dutch writer Tommy Wieringa will be there too. It’s gonna be a beautiful hardcover book, published by De Vliegende Hollander.
