Behind the Telescopes …. so it begins!

It’s finally finished! The 60-minute animated film ‘Behind the Telescopes’ that I animated this year, will premiere this Saturday at the Leiden International Filmfestival and will be played again on Sunday, at the KLIK Festival Amsterdam. Both with live music by the fantastic Lavinia Meijer.

Tonight at 0:00, I will be a guest in the Dutch radio show Nooit Meer Slapen, on Radio1, to talk about this project and about my work in general. A link to the broadcast will be online later. Don’t miss it!

Another old one

Going through my old illustrations, I find so many that I never published online! This is one of my favorite illustrations I made in 2014.

dewerksterspreekt_kl

This is an illustration I made for the Dutch poetry magazine AWATER. They published it next to the poem ‘De werkster spreekt’ by Gerrit Komrij. The poem tells the story of a maid, who refers to Mondrian in one verse. Here’s the poem (in Dutch):

An old one

I just stumbled upon this old drawing, that I made to test the look & feel of a new animated project. It never got funded, so we’ll just have to do it with this image 😦

BEHIND THE TELESCOPES dates

btt

Hi everyone,

For the past year I’ve been working on a very special project. It’s called Behind The Telescopes, and it will hit theatres this month. It took blood, sweat and tears (of joy) to make this project and I really hope that everyone will get a chance to see it.

Behind The Telescopes is a 60-minute animated film, that will be screened with live music by the amazing Dutch harpist Lavinia Meijer. All the music has been written especially for the animations and vice versa. Sounddesigner Arthur Antoine will join us on stage, to add live soundeffects and more. This is a true 1+1=3 experience, where the music makes the images shine even more, and where the images make the music more intense. It’s a unique event and I am very proud to be a part of this.
